Our Story
We aim to make food accessible to all families in our community.
What is Talbot County Empty Bowls?Empty Bowls is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises money to help provide food to people in Talbot County in need. Money we raise will be given to Talbot County organizations that address hunger in our community.
The Empty Bowls Talbot Fund is a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, a public 501(c)(3) charity. Contributions to the Fund are fully tax-deductible as allowable by law. A copy of MSCF’s financial statement is available at mscf.org or by calling 410-820-8175. Information about MSCF submitted under the Maryland Charitable Solicitations Act can be obtained from the office of the Secretary of State, State House, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Empty Bowls supports food-related charitable organizations around the world, and has raised millions of dollars to help end hunger.

❋ How It BeganThe heart of the world is touched by Linda Blackburn and John Hartom when their ceramics class made some bowls, added soup, and then sent the bowls home with their students to serve as a reminder of all of the people that are hungry in the world.
❋ In Communities Around the WorldEmpty Bowls is recognized world wide for the contributions to local food related charities within our communities. Changing the world by sharing, caring and touching the hearts of people in our own little worlds.

We came together to volunteer to fight food insecurity in Talbot County and we became so much more. We are 100% volunteer.
